Nick “The Greek”
Nick “The Greek” Dandolos is a figure that has taken his place in Las Vegas lore, and was a well-known personality with a documented gambling history. In fact, his claim to fame was a one-on-one poker match with another Vegas legend, Johnny Moss. They competed against each other for months at the Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, before Moss finally left Dandolos penniless, and in the hole for $2 million. This encounter, in fact, is considered to be the birth of competitive poker and eventually grew into things like the World Series of Poker. Nick “the Greek” Dandolos, however, hasn’t been heard from since.
